Presentation Summary: Sales people and proposal writers sometimes forget to use language the customer understands. Instead they slip into languages that don't work –- Fluff, Guff, Weasel, and Geek. This presentation will illustrate these languages in hilarious fashion, drawing examples from real-world proposals, including observations and advice in Tom's book, Language of Success. Tom will explain how to avoid these languages and how to focus on using clear, client-centered, persuasive language that moves deals forward and helps win business.
About the Presenter: An internationally known expert in proposal writing, Tom has been called "America's foremost practitioner of proposal writing" by the American Management Association. Through his consulting firm, Hyde Park Partners, he provides thought leadership, consulting, and training programs focused on sales process improvement, the creation of compelling value propositions, and the development of winning sales proposals. He has trained thousands of sales people, executives, and other professionals to write winning proposals, deliver effective presentations, and manage complex communication projects in a career that has spanned more than 25 years. A former college professor and standup comic, Tom has founded two successful firms and written three books: Persuasive Business Proposals, The Giants of Sales, and The Language of Success. He was named one of the first ever Fellows of the APMP in recognition of his contributions to the field.
