Orlando Figueroa will share his observations and experiences as an aerospace community consultant and his 33-year tenure as a NASA employee and senior manager. Retired from the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, he is a highly competent strategist and director of scientific space systems and technology. He managed 1,300+ multi-disciplinary engineering employees and complex multi-project programs with budgets of $4 billion.

Mr. Orlando Figueroa will share his observations and experiences as an aerospace community consultant and his 33-year tenure as a NASA employee and senior manager. The meeting will be on March 28, 5:30 p.m. at Greenbelt Marriott, 6400 Ivy Lane, Greenbelt, Maryland 20770, 301-441-3700. Please register for this meeting at APMP Chesapeake Chapter website www.apmpcc.com by March 23rd. Members and non-members are welcome; cost is $30 for APMP members and $40 for non-members.

Mr. Figueroa retired from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in 2010. During his NASA years, he held several roles for multi-faceted scientific space missions, e.g., planning, designing, and developing, and providing oversight.

Mr. Figueroa is considered a highly competent strategist and director of scientific space systems and technology. He is an experienced manager of people-more than 1,300 employees, in multi-disciplinary engineering organizations, and resources, complex multi-project programs with total budgets in excess of $4 billion. His insight into NASA operations at various levels should prove an invaluable look into its local operations.

Mr. Figueroa has received numerous achievement and performance awards. Among the most notable are: the 2008 Smithsonian Latino Center Legacy Award; the 2005 Service to America Federal Employee of the Year Medal, NASA Presidential Rank Awards (2004 - Distinguished, 2010 and 2002 - Meritorious) for sustained extraordinary accomplishment in management of programs of the United States Government; Hispanic Business Magazine ranking as one the most influential Hispanics in the Nation in 2004, 2005, and 2010; the 2002 Pioneer Award from the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corporation; NASA Outstanding Leadership Medals in 2004 and 1993; and the 1994 Community Stars Award from the Maryland Science Week Commission.
