Most people appreciate how important it is to write well in business. Frequently, however, bid teams and bid managers struggle to get the best out of those who contribute to bids. Have you ever found yourself cajoling and nursing your subject matter experts (SMEs) in order to extract that vital expert response that must be made bid-ready in time for a deadline? Come along to this top quality workshop and you'll take away some techniques that are valuable to both you and your colleagues.

Kick-off meetings can get overlooked. Members of bid writing teams may not have a complete grasp of the background to the opportunity, beyond the technical details of what they need to contribute. It's no wonder they find it tough to come up with that winning response. Encouraging contributors to think about (and write for) the reader, leads to better informed, more engaged and harmonious bid teams. And the end product is likely to be of a higher quality, require less editing and have a better chance of success.

This workshop will help you to help your SMEs to write responses that are a good read. Our presenter, Wendy Ferguson of Emphasis Training, will teach you how to bring out the best bid responses in yourself and others. Whether you manage bid contributors, or write bids yourself, you will definitely boost your word power by attending.

About your presenter: Wendy Ferguson, a senior consultant with Emphasis Training, has spent many years helping people to write better documents. An experienced teacher, journalist and editor, Wendy has an incredible knowledge of (and infectious enthusiasm for) the English language. Wendy was the academic director of a leading language-teaching organisation for many years. She has spent the past eight years at Emphasis working with large public and private sector clients, including TfL, Ernst & Young, Coca-Cola and Esri UK.

Wendy specialises in helping clients to change their mindset about writing, approaching it from a reader-centred point of view. She uses techniques of structure, style and readability to make her clients’ writing more effective and their writing processes more efficient.
