It Shouldn't Happen in a Bid: An Assessors Perspective
Phil Evans Is the Government Services Director at the Met Office, his role brings him into contact with bidding activity from both sides. As a Director, he is responsible for bids that are produced by the Government Services Team; in particular he takes a close interest in larger bids and proposals, often finding time in his busy schedule to support the team by reviewing bids and providing final approval. He has also been closely involved in the development of a range of bids.
Phil also undertakes activity as an assessor of bids, both for the Met Office and the wider public sector. Through this work he has developed a deep understanding of what makes a good bid and what does not.
During this session, he will be sharing his views on bidding and the need for a professional approach. He will use his experiences together with some anecdotes about some of the bids he has assessed to illustrate the reasons why bids fail to get through the selection process.
