Amanda NuttallAmanda Nuttall 
Chief Executive Officer

The APMP UK board has appointed Amanda Nuttall as the CEO of APMP UK. Amanda will serve as the CEO for 2017. 

Amanda Nuttall is a senior consultant with Strategic Proposals. She advises and works with sales, marketing and bid teams across a wide range of sectors, predominantly within the engineering, construction, facilities services and IT sectors, supporting on live deals as well as driving systemic improvements to their proposal processes. Particular specialisms include support on live proposal and presentation pitches - including value proposition development as well as reviewing and evaluating proposals through peer review pre submission or benchmarking post submission.

Ken ErskineKen Erskine
Conference Co-Director 2017

Ken has 30 years of work-winning experience within the construction industry, and has worked for both family-owned businesses and large PLCs. He recently joined Balfour Beatty as a Bid Director. His portfolio of successful bidding ranges from traditional construction bids through to multi-billion pound multi-stakeholder partnership deals. To date he has been involved in securing in excess of £25bn of revenue through successful bidding.

Ken has served on the APMP UK Board since 2005. He previously served as COO in 2009, CEO in 2010 and Conference Director from 2011 to 2013 before once again being elected as CEO for 2014. He is also a Director on the APMP Board.

Isabel MoritzIsabel Moritz
2016 Conference Director

Isabel Moritz has been a member of APMP since 2004. She works as an independent bid writer and consultant. 

Isabel took on the role of Conference Director for the annual 2016 APMP UK conference.


Mark WhelanMark Whelan
Special Projects Director

Mark Whelan PPM.APMP is an APMP Professional and has been involved in technical and commercial proposal management for the past 25 years. Mark is a successful business leader experienced in engaging at an executive level. Mark enjoys building and managing winning teams through mentoring and leading by example.

As well as his involvement with APMP Mark has contributed to IT best practice (ITIL) publications including the BSI committee on service management standards.

The Special Projects portfolio provides support to the members and the board and Mark welcomes ideas from the membership for projects which improve the member experience and the operation of the chapter.

Peter LoblPeter Lobl
Membership Director

Peter is Membership Director of the APMP UK and an EU Commission Expert Reviewer. He has worked on both sides of procurement, providing advice and guidance to Public Sector (Kent County Council, Home Office) and private sector clients (Unisys, Alcatel, HP) on how to get the best out of the Public Sector bidding process. He has worked as strategic adviser to both private and public sector organisations on key aspects of high value public sector contracts. These included the preparation of winning bid strategies, maximising supplier contribution and developing a client-focused culture.

Peter works with Sales and Bid Managers in large multi-national corporations to develop excellence in all aspects of winning high value business. This has included developing account and capture planning processes, honing client relationship skills and assistance with all aspects of bid development. Peter has achieved Practitioner level qualification with the APMP.

Martin KayeMartin Kaye
Finance Director

Martin first joined APMP in 2005 as the APMP UK committee member for membership.· After a short break, he returned to the same role in 2012 and is now moving on to be the Finance Director.

Martin has over 20 years of experience as a bid manager, being skilled in leading teams to win profitable high value contracts through use of best practice. Early bid management experience was in aviation control systems and telecoms. Over the last nine years Martin has been contracting in a variety of industries as diverse as security and travel management and he enjoys the diversity and flexibility that working as a contractor provides.

Chris Colquitt
Technology Director

Chris Colquitt is the manager of the global proposal management team at Clarivate Analytics, supporting customers accelerate the pace of innovation. From working to cure cancer through to putting people on Mars, they help customers across the world identify and answer their important questions.
Within the UK APMP, Chris acts as Director of Technology. Here, he works with a team of volunteers to support and evolve the current technology systems, to identify and communicate a technology landscape for UK bidders and to support the other workstreams in IT special projects.


Claire BirdClaire Bird
Apprenticeship Director

Claire has been a member of the APMP since 2012, achieving Practitioner status in 2015.  She has previously volunteered as part of the ‘Trailblazer Group’ responsible for developing the first apprenticeship programme for the bid and proposal profession within the UK.  Claire has 10 years’ experience working across a range of sectors, and has held a number of senior Bid Management roles for Lloyds Banking Group, NG Bailey and Accent on Training Limited.  She is passionate about bid and proposals, and making it a career path of choice, and is excited to support the development of opportunities for young people, within a profession that spans multiple industries.

Claire managed the world’s first Bid and Proposal Apprenticeship at NG Bailey, and is well placed to drive through the Bid and Proposal Coordinator Apprenticeship.  Working with the wider trailblazer team, she hopes to develop the Apprenticeship Director portfolio by continuing to build on the great work done so far to further embed the scheme and raise awareness across industries.

Richard Bannon

Richard Bannon 
Immediate Past CEO and Symposium Director

Winning good new business by leading bid teams for over 25 years, Richard is seeking to bring his skills and experience to the development of the APMP UK Chapter. He will continue work on creating a sustainable Board structure to match our continued Chapter growth, with succession planning and increased transparency in our governance. Richard is a strong advocate for all levels of Certification and aims to ensure the APMP UK Chapter moves towards becoming the nationally recognised authority on all aspects of bidding through demonstrated member professionalism, increased awareness of the APMP in the UK and our Certification Programme. 

Richard has been engaged with APMPUK since 2001.

Nic AdamsNic Adams
Immediate Past Chair/Director APMP International and UK Conference Co-Director 2017

With over 25 years IT Industry experience including more than 15 years in bid and engagement management, Nic has extensive experienced in bid, proposal, contracts and programme management and is skilled in the development of the Win Strategy, creation of the Value Proposition with a broad background in the development, management and control of corporate bid processes.

Nic has a history of personal involvement in non-profit organisations and has been elected to numerous board positions within AFSM International, Rotary, Lions International and various education institutes.

Having been an active member of APMP since 2004, Nic has served on the UK Chapter Board of Directors since 2007, holding the offices of CFO from 2007 to 2009, COO for 2010, CEO for 2011 and 2012 and of Immediate Past CEO for 2013 before once again taking on the role of the UK Chapter's Chief Financial Officer for 2014.

Nic fully embraces the APMP mission. He is an elected director on the international APMP Board for the 2013 and 2014 fiscal years and in 2014 was appointed to the APMP Executive Board in the role of Association Treasurer. Nic is currently the APMP International CEO.

Jon DarbyJon Darby
Marketing and PR Director

Jon has over 20 years’ experience as a business winning professional, helping global companies win complex strategic opportunities worth up to £1bn.
He is an advocate of the business winning profession and has been an APMP member since 2002. In 2011 Jon achieved Proposal Professional Member (PPM) certification and has mentored others through the certification process.
He has held several business winning roles including Bid Writer, Bid Manager, Bid Director and Bid Coach and is currently Head of Harmonic’s Business Winning Practice.


Alan Howard
Certification Director

Alan began his career as an engineer, working with IBM mainframes before moving on to System Engineering He was selected to become an IBM proposal consultant, it was here that he first became exposed to the arcane art of bids and proposals. Then he was headhunted several times to a series of bid management and consultancy roles.

Later became a Sales Manager, facilitator and trainer, developing additional skills. Alan now has his own company, providing bid and proposal services as well as running training workshops.

Alan joined APMP in 2009 and was appointed to the board of the APMP UK in 2016 as the Certification Director. He has been heavily involved with the mentoring programme and the conference training days.

Vicki Jackson

Vicki Jackson
Communications Director

Vicki has lead bid teams in a variety of sectors for over 10 years, with a range of clients in a variety of industries including the SMEs, FTSE 100 Organisations, the Ministry of Defence, Central Government and Local Authorities on tenders ranging in size from £100,000 to £500,000,000.  Having headed up the Business Development Department for a large NHS Foundation Trust for the last three years, Vicki is about to launch her own boutique Business Winning Consultancy providing proactive commercial capability, strategy and bid support alongside a range of Market Intelligence Tools that support her clients’ commercial decision making.  
Vicki has been a member of APMP since 2012 and is supporting the organisation in the delivery of its strategic goals, building on the Chapter's current comms and engagement activity and developing the way we engage effectively with our members.

Karen Althen

Events Director
Karen is Senior Bid Manager in Daisy Corporate Services and over the years has used her APMP experience to help win places on major government frameworks.  Karen promotes APMP throughout the company and encourages all members of the bid team to follow best practice ensuring consistency and success across the bidding cycle.
She has been a member of APMP for around ten years and during that time has organised successful events in Scotland.  In addition, she has presented at local, national and international events including Conference.  
Karen will assist in the organisation of regional events and will attend as many possible in order to get to know members and build up a rapport with local organisers.  She also has some innovative ideas as to how events are run and hopes to generate interest in APMP and increase membership.
