If It Ain't Broke, Break It

Mitch Boretz, APMP Fellow
Technical Communication Specialist, University of California Riverside

Proposal writers know the Golden Rule: The one with the gold makes the rules. So what happens when we need to persuade our customers that a rule change will benefit everyone? This presentation will describe APMP’s recent contacts with the Federal Demonstration Partnership to establish policies for incorporation of "rich media” in proposals: videos, hyperlinks, and interactive features. As a partnership between grant-making Federal agencies and hundreds of grant-receiving institutions, the FDP is uniquely positioned to set standards where none existed before. This session will share how we built trust, established a common agenda, and got moving in the right direction. And now that we are moving, we will discuss where we are going. What do we expect to happen next? And might APMP be able to take lessons learned from this experience to establish an FDP equivalent for the procurement sector?
