Start to Finish: From New Word Document to Proposal Template

Richard Eassom CF APMP Fellow
Vice President, Corporate Support, SM&As

In addition to your win strategy and proposal planning, one of the essential ingredients of any successful proposal development effort is a robust, attractive Microsoft® Word proposal template. A well-designed template will provide a consistent look to your proposals and enhance your company’s branding, whether it is for proposal content, attachments or résumés. Perhaps you’ve been using the same old Word template since someone created it in Word 97 and you decide to start anew, or perhaps you’re creating your very first proposal template. You open Word with a new, blank document: what’s next? In this presentation, I will go through the steps you need to create a Word template that your proposal authors will find easy to use, that will save you time during final production, and that will be easy on the eyes of the evaluators. I use these template-building steps successfully on every proposal I develop.

Dick Eassom, CF APMP, Fellow is a VP at SM&A, a certified APMP Fellow, past APMP Chief Executive Officer, recipient of the APMP Founders’ Award, and presenter at 11 APMP Annual International Conferences on using Microsoft Word for proposal development.
