Maximizing the Potential of a Small Proposal Team

Amy Stiver, CF APMP
Senior Business Development Specialist, Bright Horizons Family Solutions

APMP has in its midst a rapidly growing population – commercial proposal teams ranging from one to five members. Jacks-of-all-trades, they do the work of proposal writer, editor, production, team coordinator, and process manager for multiple RFPs (often overlapping), and all in an average of a two-week timeline. How can small proposal teams efficiently turn out multiple high-quality proposals? By being organized and preparing for all scenarios! In this session, we will look at foundational items necessary for success—creating best practices, resources, and processes customized to your Organization’s needs; identifying areas of existing RFP processes in critical need of attention; and enabling your own succession by developing the proper skillset in a new proposal team member. This session is for anyone who wants to learn simple, but effective tips to creating and organizing a small proposal team, share best practices, and/or network with those that understand your pain.

Amy Stiver

Beginning as a toddler teacher in one of our child care centers in 2000, I have worked for Bright Horizons Family Solutions for more than 13 years. After obtaining my bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Texas, I stumbled into a small proposal team and the world of RFPs. Since then, I have now responded to more than 130 RFPs for non-profits, corporations, academic institutions, health care, local government, the GSA, as well as internationally. I hold foundation level certification and am beginning the process of obtaining practitioner level certification.
