Getting Picky - How to Team (and How NOT to Team) in Today's Marketplace

Alexander Wilson, CF APMP
Proposal Manager, LVW Electronics

In today’s marketplace, it is more critical than ever for small, medium and large businesses to form meaningful, lucrative and mutually-beneficial teams to pursue, capture and perform work. Too often the pressure to team with any firm that checks a box (whatever the box might be) can lead to teaming arrangements that are (at best) mutually apathetic, or (at worst) damaging to one or more of the team members. This seminar is sheds light on best practices that increase the odds of landing teammates that advance your goals while avoiding common pitfalls, both pre- and post-award. The practices detailed are relevant for all types of businesses and will take your firm a step ahead of the competition in an era where good teaming can make the difference between a win and a loss, between solid performance and failure to perform, or between growth and stagnation.

Sander Wilson, CF APMP, has been at the front lines of business development, capture management, proposal management and contract administration since 2009, working for a small business that has experienced year-on-year growth every year since the beginning of the last recession, with its wins primarily (but not entirely) in the federal marketplace as a prime contractor. Responsible for wins on IDIQs, MATOCs, T&M, FFP and a wide variety of contract types and vehicles, Mr. Wilson led the capture of prime contracts with a combined ceiling of over a half a billion dollars in the last five years.
