APMP Closes Second Largest Bid & Proposal Con Conference in the Association’s History
Conference Attendance, Energy Reflect Growing Membership and Industry

Washington, DC, June 5, 2015APMP® just closed its second-largest APMP Bid & Proposal Con conference in the history of the association with many of the proposal, capture, business development, sales and marketing professionals calling it APMP’s best conference ever. A total of 726 attendees from 15 different countries attended the conference.

“Hundreds of attendees told us that this was the best APMP Bid & Proposal Con they have ever attended,” said Rick Harris, Executive Director, APMP. “From the keynotes to the educational sessions to the social events, APMP put a great deal of effort into thanking and recognizing APMP members for the hard work they do.”

Bid & Proposal Con kicked off on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 with APMP’s Certification Day. A total of 57 APMP members passed the APMP Foundation Level Certification hosted this year by Shipley Associates. In addition, 11 professionals became APMP Practitioner certified, and two earned the APMP Professional distinction.

Suzanne Jones, CP APMP and APMP CEO of the Board of Directors, said, “We have received so much great feedback on the conference keynotes and Ignite Talks, especially. Never before have I heard an outpouring of confidence in where the Association is going, specifically with regards to the transparency APMP provides its members. It’s really exciting to be a part of this fast-growing organization.”

Other APMP Bid & Proposal Conference Highlights included:

  • Three Unique Days Of Conference Keynotes -- Award-winning motivational speaker Connie Podesta kicked everything off with an interactive keynote address that encouraged attendees to consider their personality types and how they interact with others in the workplace. Throughout the conference, attendees could be heard referring to Podesta’s inspirational address, by telling each other if they were a circle, square, triangle or a squiggle. The day two Keynoter featured television comedian (Late Show With David Letterman, The Seth Myers Show and writer for Saturday Night Live) Keith Alberstadt, who transformed the art of winning business into comical terms. The final day featured APMP’s first-ever Ignite Talks, a series of quick, rapid-fire presentations limited to 20 slides in five minutes that automatically advanced every 15 seconds. The Ignite Talks were a huge hit and featured quick presentations on everything from Work-Life Balance, to Storytelling to African Rhinos to Family.
  • More than Fifty Educational Sessions -- Conference attendees were able to choose from more than 50 educational sessions delivered by quality presenters new APMP Bid & Proposal Con, including several pre-conference sessions offered on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Copies of the presentations are available to the APMP membership here.
  • Fourth Annual Industry Night Celebration -- A packed room of more than 500 proposal professionals celebrated the accomplishments of chapters and individuals who helped advance APMP to greater heights this year.  The 2015 APMP Fellows award inductees include Lisa Pafe, CPP APMP and Kathryn Wyon, CPP APMP and Nigel Dennis, CPP APMP.   • Big Prize Winners In the final minutes on the last day, David Rinaldo of the National Capital Area Chapter won the $1,000 cash drawing, and APMP member Dawn Davidson of the Pacific Northwest Chapter won free conference registration and hotel accommodations to APMP Bid & Proposal Con 2016, May 25 – 28, 2016 in Boston, MA.

The APMP Commercial Community showed support for the growing Commercial industry presence by hosting a second networking reception as a specific destination for Commercial networking. Members of the APMP Commercial Community, chaired by Robin Davis, CF APMP Fellow, also hosted a panel discussion called Building and Developing a Proposal Department.
