APMP Mourns the Loss of Lee Hendrickson, CPP APMP Fellow
Former APMP Board of Directors Member Served as a Mentor and Industry Beacon

Washington, DC, July 2, 2015 – The Association of Proposal Management Professionals® (APMP®) community is saddened to learn of the death of Lee Hendrickson, CPP APMP Fellow, who passed away on June 30, 2015.

"This is a great loss to proposal development professionals in our industry and a greater loss to the APMP community,” said Rick Harris, Executive Director, APMP. "So many of us experienced Lee’s legacy and passion for business
excellence and sharing his knowledge with others. He readily served as a mentor to the membership, routinely providing support and wisdom to everyone.”

Certified as APMP Certified Proposal Professional (CPP APMP), the highest level of APMP-recognized industry knowledge, Hendrickson was fiercely committed to the industry. He served in the APMP Board of Directors 2013 – 2014 class. Hendrickson helped launch the APMP Pacific Northwest Chapter and served as Chapter Chair for many years, earning the distinguished APMP Chapter Chair of the Year award in 2009. After retiring from FLIR Systems in 2014, he continued as an industry consultant.

In 2011 Hendrickson was inducted as an APMP Fellow, an honor that recognizes individuals who have made substantial industry contributions over many years. He continued his commitment to excellence and service, acting as an adviser and mentor, specifically as an APMP Certification mentor. At the APMP Bid & Proposal Con 2015 conference in Seattle in May, Hendrickson volunteered in the APMP Situation Room, helping colleagues address some of their most difficult proposal challenges. He also served on the APMP Chapter Liaison Committee.

"
Many of us had a chance to speak with Lee at the APMP Bid & Proposal Con 2015 conference in Seattle. He was, truly, a kind and gentle man and was a wonderful friend and colleague for many years,” said Suzanne Jones, APMP CEO.

Hendrickson had 40 years’ experience in high-tech industries, with 18 spent preparing winning proposals and six dedicated to procuring complex computer-based systems. He also had significant experience in telecommunications, radar, radio communications, rocket propulsion, health care, and banking. Hendrickson, with a deep, melodic voice to rival that of James Earl Jones, performed voice-overs for commercials and corporate films. He was licensed in Amateur Radio (Extra Class), the top U.S. amateur radio license, governed by the Federal Communications Commission, under strict federal regulations. He had an affinity for guitar, stringed instruments and singing.

Hendrickson's wife, Marcie Rosenzweig, lives on the property they loved for many years, in McMinnville, OR near the capital of Salem.
