APMP UK Reports Government Recognition of Bid and
Proposal Coordinator Role
Official Apprenticeship Program Advances the Profession in the UK

Washington, DC, July 29, 2015 – The Association of Proposal Management Professionals® (APMP®), the worldwide authority for best practices, education and career development for professionals dedicated to the process of winning business through proposals, bids, capture, business development and presentations, announced that its APMP UK Chapter’s "Bid and Proposal Coordinator” application was approved, gaining United Kingdom Department for Business, Innovation and Skills recognition as one of a select group of 26 new "Trailblazers” created to develop apprenticeship standards across multi-industry sectors.

This initiative was led by the APMP UK Chapter Apprenticeship Director, Amanda Nuttall, CPP APMP, who said, "A new leg of the journey to bring the next generation of talent into our industry has begun. Official approval helps build momentum to a formal, employer-led and tailored apprenticeship program in the UK that completely aligns with our profession.”

The Trailblazer program was established in England to design occupational apprenticeship standards for various industry sectors. Employers participate in the program to ensure that standards related to workplace skills are appropriate for large and small organizations. Professional organizations, training providers, and assessment or accreditation organizations are also enlisted to provide input on the development of the standards. The program was developed in conjunction with the government’s plan to create by 2020 three million new apprenticeships that directly respond to industry needs.

"The UK Minister for Skills’ support of developing standards for a ‘Bid and Proposal Coordinator’ role proves that APMP membership is part of a burgeoning, globally recognized profession that plays a pivotal role in the business processes and bottom line of multi-industry organizations,” said Rick Harris, Executive Director, APMP. "This is a significant achievement, not only for the chapter team’s hard work, but also for APMP.”

Growing recognition of proposal management roles is in alignment with the APMP Professional Development Committee, dedicated to
presenting the industry as a career option in the United States and providing members with a path to follow when considering their own professional development. A career path prototype is being developed. It illustrates necessary industry skills, job opportunities, and related compensation packages, based on U.S. market feedback and will be used to produce similar products for international APMP chapters.

APMP is the world’s largest association dedicated to the entire proposal development lifecycle. Visit apmp.org for more details.
