APMP South Africa Chapter Conference Ends on a High Note
Event attendance marks progress for proposal management industry members in
South Africa

Washington, District of Columbia, Aug. 12, 2015 – The Association of Proposal Management Professionals® (APMP®), the worldwide authority for professionals dedicated to the process of winning business through proposals, bids, capture, business development and presentations, South Africa Chapter concluded its sixth annual conference, called "Prepare. Produce. Propose. Present.” The conference was developed to provide a platform for industry professionals in South Africa to receive industry education, certification and networking opportunities.

"The APMP South Africa Chapter Conference 2015 realized an attendance increase of 20 percent from last year’s attendance,” said Sally Jacques, CP APMP, Chapter Chair. "An excellent response from our delegates proves that there are industry players in South Africa who seek opportunities and resources to develop their professional skills and become more successful within their organizations.”

An attendance rate of 97 delegates represents conference support from nearly three-quarters of the chapter’s 140 members. Conference attendees heard from Richard Mulholland, founder of Missing Link, South Africa’s largest audience optimization firm, opened the conference and told the audience that they too can be a slide master. Sandy Pullinger and Neil Phillipson, who have both been instrumental in building the South African chapter, spoke on preparing before the RFP lands and truly knowing your client. Delegates also had an opportunity to share their experiences on proposal best practice.

The APMP South Africa chapter is spreading the word on the proposal profession with regular events and affiliations with procurement organizations, such as the State-Owned Enterprises Procurement Forum and Smart Procurement.

Every year, the chapter sets out to increase the number of its members with APMP certification. On 5 August, 19 members successfully wrote the Foundation exam, and five have achieved Practitioner. The chapter is hoping the Practitioner number will double by the end of the year.
