2015 APMP Certification Breaks Records

Certification Elevates Proposal Professionals’ Profiles

Washington, D.C., January 19, 2016 – The Association of Proposal Management Professionals® (APMP®) announced that its 2015 certification records have surpassed all other years of certification achievements in the association’s history, which dates back more than 25 years. More than 1,000 proposal industry professionals achieved APMP Foundation Certification in 2015, marking for the baseline certification program a 5 percent increase over 2014.

"This record-breaking year for certification demonstrates the value industry professionals place on best practices and proven techniques for success in the profession, captured in APMP certification,” said Rick Harris, APMP executive director. "APMP members around the world understand the value APMP certification adds to an individual’s professional profile, as well as an organization’s credibility. To see APMP’s Foundation Certification numbers increase 34 percent in the past three years, from 2012 to 2015, is a direct reflection of companies’ and individuals’ commitment to demonstrating competency in industry best practices.”

APMP is the international association for proposal, bid, capture, business development, and marketing/graphics professionals, providing certification, best practices, and networking opportunities for its 7,000+ members worldwide.

In 2015, 1,007 proposal professionals achieved Foundation Level certification, compared to 958 in 2014. Looking at APMP’s more advanced certification programs, 125 experienced professionals achieved Practitioner Certification and 18 achieved Professional Certification, a 40 percent and 80 percent increase, respectively, over 2014 numbers. Industry professionals must obtain Foundation credentials before they can advance to the Practitioner Certification, designed for those with three to seven years’ experience, and Professional Certification, designed for those who have more than seven years’ experience in the bid, proposal, and capture professions.

"APMP certification credentials are widely recognized in the industry and carry tremendous weight as they demonstrate the integrity of an individual’s experience and extensive knowledge in multi-facets of industry best practices,” said Harris.

APMP has certified more than 7,200 members since the program’s inception in 2004.

In 2016, APMP is launching an enhanced Foundation Certification program. It includes a refreshed APMP study guide, which supports content found in the
APMP Body of Knowledge, is reflective of topics on the APMP Foundation exam, and references a universal language to represent global industry best practices and geographic characteristics. APMP is also working closely with Foundation-certified members to aid those who aim to pursue certification at the Practitioner level.
