APMP Accreditation Council Members Sought to Plan the Future

APMP’s Board of Directors is seeking volunteer members to serve on a newly formed advisory council to continue to grow the Accreditation program at all levels. The Council replaces the original Accreditation Steering Committee and the retired Board of Directors’ Accreditation Strategic Initiative Committee.

The Accreditation Council’s objectives for the 2012-2013 term (begins and ends with the annual Bid &Proposal Con) are to oversee the:

· Development and implementation of a plan for a vendor-neutral study guide for the Accreditation program that supports the global diversity of our membership

· Creation of an online coaching tool to support Practitioner Level Accreditation and make training more accessible to candidates

· Marketing and education of human resource personnel (i.e., industry recruiters) as well as career counselors about the APMP Accreditation program and its value to employers, job seekers and individuals looking to supplement their credentials, enhance their careers, and aspire to positions of greater responsibility .

We are looking for 6-8 volunteers in the following categories to make up the Council:

· Practitioner of the trade in North America (i.e., practicing proposal professional day in and day out)

· Practitioner of the trade in the European Union

· Practitioner of the trade in a developing country

· Representative from Management (i.e., Director level and above) in the proposal or business development professions

· Proposal Manager specifically leading Commercial Bids/Tenders/Proposals

· Proposal Manager specifically leading Government Bids/Tenders/Proposals

In addition, a representative from one of APMP’s Approved Training Organizations (ATOs), who will be selected on a rotating basis annually, will have a seat on the Council as will one representative from academia (e.g., director of learning, curriculum development specialist, or career counselor). The Executive Director will round out the Council membership and the APMP Immediate Past CEO will serve as chairperson. The Accreditation Program Director and Chief Examiner will serve as advisors. To be considered you must:

1. Be a member in good-standing with APMP

2. Have achieved Foundation Level accreditation, at a minimum

  1. Not be affiliated in any way with one of the Approved Training Organizations or the APM Group

This is a standing committee. Committee terms will be staggered for one-to-three years based on assignment. The Council will meet at least once a quarter via webinar/conference calls and plans to hold a face-to-face meeting at Bid & Proposal Con 2012, May 22-25, 2012 at the Dallas Sheraton Hotel in Dallas, TX, to assess progress and advance agreed upon goals.

DEADLINE AND HOW TO APPLY: To be eligible for consideration, (1) submit a one paragraph statement on how you think you will contribute to the Council accomplishing its goals, (2) pick one of the categories and describe why you best represent that group of stakeholders, and (3) send a copy of your latest APMP accreditation certificate to APMP Past CEO Betsy Blakney at betsy.blakney@apmp.org. Applications are due no later than 5:00 PM EST, Thursday March 15, 2012.

Commercial Advisory Committee Members Sought to Focus on Commercial Bids and Proposal Industry

APMP is also establishing a Commercial Advisory Committee to focus on and promote Proposal Management within the commercial sector.

There are thousands proposal development professionals for commercial companies all over the world and they would benefit greatly by being a member of APMP. We need proposal professionals who have experience in the commercial sector to be part of the APMP Commercial Advisory Committee. By being involved, you will directly contribute to:

2) Identify commercial proposal professionals who are potential speakers for APMP Chapter and International webinar events.

3) Design an APMP Membership Campaign that targets proposal professionals working in the commercial sector.

4) We’re looking for all proposal, bid and business development professionals with experience in the commercial sector to help expand APMP into the talent-rich commercial proposal side of the industry. Those involved will participate in monthly teleconference meetings and divide into sub-committees to accomplish the goals suggested by the new Commercial Advisory Committee.

If you have experience within the commercial sector we welcome your involvement. If you know of someone within APMP that would contribute to this committee please pass this information along to them.

DEADLINE AND HOW TO APPLY: Please send a brief description of why you want to serve on this committee to rick.harris@apmp.org 5:00 PM EST, Thursday March 15, 2012.
