The
Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP®) announces two
volunteer opportunities for its members.
Please read the descriptions and criteria below and apply to the
appropriate person by the deadline.
APMP
Accreditation Council Members Sought to Plan the Future
APMP’s Board
of Directors is seeking volunteer members to serve on a newly formed advisory council
to continue to grow the Accreditation program at all levels. The Council
replaces the original Accreditation Steering Committee and the retired Board of
Directors’ Accreditation Strategic Initiative Committee.
The
Accreditation Council’s objectives for the 2012-2013 term (begins and ends with
the annual Bid &Proposal Con) are to oversee the:

Development
and implementation of a plan for a vendor-neutral study guide for the
Accreditation program that supports the global diversity of our membership
·
Creation
of an online coaching tool to support Practitioner Level Accreditation and make
training more accessible to candidates
·
Marketing
and education of human resource personnel (i.e., industry recruiters) as well
as career counselors about the APMP Accreditation program and its value to employers,
job seekers and individuals looking to supplement their credentials, enhance
their careers, and aspire to positions of greater responsibility .
We are
looking for 6-8 volunteers in the following categories to make up the Council:
·
Practitioner
of the trade in North America (i.e., practicing proposal professional day in
and day out)
·
Practitioner
of the trade in the European Union
·
Practitioner
of the trade in a developing country
·
Representative
from Management (i.e., Director level and above) in the proposal or business
development professions
·
Proposal
Manager specifically leading Commercial Bids/Tenders/Proposals
·
Proposal
Manager specifically leading Government Bids/Tenders/Proposals
In addition,
a representative from one of APMP’s Approved Training Organizations (ATOs), who
will be selected on a rotating basis annually, will have a seat on the Council
as will one representative from academia (e.g., director of learning, curriculum
development specialist, or career counselor).
The Executive Director will round out the Council membership and the
APMP Immediate Past CEO will serve as chairperson. The Accreditation Program
Director and Chief Examiner will serve as advisors. To be considered you must:
1.
Be a member in good-standing with APMP
2.
Have achieved Foundation Level accreditation, at a minimum
- Not
be affiliated in any way with one of the Approved Training Organizations
or the APM Group
This is a
standing committee. Committee terms will
be staggered for one-to-three years based on assignment. The Council will meet
at least once a quarter via webinar/conference calls and plans to hold a
face-to-face meeting at Bid & Proposal Con 2012, May 22-25, 2012 at the
Dallas Sheraton Hotel in Dallas, TX, to assess progress and advance agreed upon
goals.
DEADLINE
AND HOW TO APPLY: To be eligible for consideration, (1) submit
a one paragraph statement on how you think you will contribute to the Council
accomplishing its goals, (2) pick one of the categories and describe why you
best represent that group of stakeholders, and (3) send a copy of your latest
APMP accreditation certificate to APMP Past CEO Betsy Blakney at betsy.blakney@apmp.org. Applications are due no later than 5:00 PM EST, Thursday March 15, 2012.
Commercial
Advisory Committee Members Sought to Focus on Commercial Bids and Proposal
Industry
APMP is also
establishing a Commercial Advisory Committee to focus on and promote Proposal
Management within the commercial sector.
There are
thousands proposal development professionals for commercial companies all over
the world and they would benefit greatly by being a member of APMP. We need proposal professionals who have
experience in the commercial sector to be part of the APMP Commercial Advisory
Committee. By being involved, you will directly contribute to:
1) Determine
educational programming and best practices that are beneficial to APMP members
working in the commercial sector.
2) Identify
commercial proposal professionals who are potential speakers for APMP Chapter
and International webinar events.
3) Design an
APMP Membership Campaign that targets proposal professionals working in the
commercial sector.
4) We’re
looking for all proposal, bid and business development professionals with
experience in the commercial sector to help expand APMP into the talent-rich
commercial proposal side of the industry. Those involved will participate in
monthly teleconference meetings and divide into sub-committees to accomplish
the goals suggested by the new Commercial Advisory Committee.

know of someone within APMP that would contribute to this committee please pass
