APMP Bid & Proposal Con 2012 Attracted Hundreds of New Attendees
Conference delivered high-end educational opportunities for proposal management professionals.

Washington, DC, June 18, 2012 – The Association of Proposal Management Professionals'® (APMPs'®) international conference, Bid & Proposal Con , May 22 – 25, Dallas, TX was the year's largest educational event for proposal, bid, business development and capture professionals. More than half of this year's attendees were new to APMP's Bid & Proposal Con and delivered a new energy to the conference, which celebrated its 23rd year.

Nearly 600 proposal professionals attended APMP's Bid & Proposal Con 2012 to learn how to win bids and lead more strategically, effectively and in volume. They networked and accessed industry-relevant information at the more than 50 educational opportunities, including a new track of a dozen sessions designed specifically for commercial proposal professionals. More than 340 of the professionals were first time attendees.

"We told our exhibitors and sponsors we were going to bring them a new audience, and we did,” said Rick Harris, Executive Director of APMP. "Our Board and staff made a concerted effort to attract new people to the conference, and their presence made the conference rewarding for everyone. Our new goal is to re-engage consistent attendees who weren't with us in Dallas,” said Harris.

During APMP's Bid & Proposal Con 2012, the following industry professionals earned Professional Accreditation status, the highest level of industry accomplishment:

  • David Sotolongo , VP, Business and Proposal Development, RTI International,Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina
  • Amy McGeady , CEO of APMP and Proposal and Business Development Consultant at The Proposal Doctor, Austin, Texas
  • Stephanie Nolan , Proposal Center Manager, North American Proposal Centers at Motorola Solutions, Schaumberg, Illinois
  • Nigel Dennis , Owner at Bid Write, Perth, Australia
  • Deborah Brooks , Sr. Bid Manager at TATA Communications Ltd., Washington D.C.

Additionally, another 20 became Practitioner Level certified, and 31 passed their Foundation Level training. In all, 56 attendees received some level of Accreditation at APMP's Bid & Proposal Con 2012.

Attendees also celebrated at the inaugural APMP Awards Celebration, honoring new APMP Fellows inductees, Chapter awards, and corporate sponsors. More than 120 attendees enjoyed dinner, dancing and recognition at the industry's newest signature event.

For the first time ever, APMP's Bid & Proposal Con attendees were able to map out their conference experience on a mobile app with features such as the event schedule, session descriptions, exhibitor information, instant feedback and session evaluations, APMP chapter details and future show dates.

The inspirational APMP's Bid & Proposal Con 2012 keynote lineup was inspirational and included an APMP comedy troupe, The Type Os, who presented The Great Debate: Examining Proposal Realities and Myths , Eric Gregory, Senior Vice President of Capture and Proposal Development, CACI, who presented What is a Proposal Professional?, the well-received Vicki Hitzges, a motivational speaker personally trained by master speaker Zig Ziglar, and Tara Green, Former V ice President and COO, North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee.

"We enthusiastically welcomed all of our new attendees,” said Amy McGeady, CEO of APMP and The Proposal Doctor, "but we also want to thank all those returning who make APMP their professional community and home. We think next year’s conference in Atlanta, GA is going to be big,” said McGeady.

APMP also made the following announcements at APMP's Bid & Proposal Con 2012:

The launch of the APMP Practitioner Online Tutorial is to provide comprehensive online training to help APMP members complete their 33 question PPAQ – the critical deliverable to passing APMP's Practitioner Level Accreditation. This product is available for purchase right now in the APMP store at  for $129 and is available to APMP members only.

The launch of a new weekly newsletter called The Reporter, the official news weekly of APMP, will feature global business news for APMP members. APMP will aggregate business news and publish it weekly as another free benefit to its members. The Reporter is the only APMP resource to reach members on a weekly basis and will launch on Wednesday, June 20, 2012.

The launch of the Live Learning Center featuring copies of conference presentations synched to the audio from selected educational sessions. Access to the Live Learning Center sessions will be free to all APMP Bid & Proposal Con 2012 attendees. Access to the educational sessions will cost $35 for APMP members who did not attend and $75 for non-APMP members who did not attend. The Live Learning Center is scheduled to open in July 2012.
