Moving Beyond Company Culture: Building Proposal Teams with Emotional Intelligence

Saturday, May 28, 2016 | 10:50 AM - 11:50 AM | Back Bay C

Melissa Cothran
Emotional intelligence (EI) began gaining recognition in the ’90s as a key attribute of successful people.  Research confirms that a person's feelings and emotions directly impact his/her effectiveness, efficiency, engagement and ability to repeatably produce quality work.  This presentation will focus on three key pieces of EI that are critical to all proposal teams: self-awareness, emotional management, and key attributes and behaviors of emotionally intelligent teams. Attendees will learn how to evaluate their own EI and how to begin to take action to build proposal teams with high EI.

Melissa Cothran is a persuasive leader who thrives on teaching others how to easily resolve seemingly complex issues. She has led proposal teams in healthcare and education, applying her science-based approach in project management, proposal reviews, and finalist presentations. A calm, articulate communicator, Melissa guides proposal teams in change management and issue resolution while navigating them toward winning, customer-focused proposals that help achieve higher growth objectives.
