Proposal Mixology: Developing Your Signature Proposal Voice Through Bartending Skills, Social Intelligence, and Communication

Friday, May 27, 2016 | 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM | Back Bay D

Stephen Galati
Ann Kadlec
Voicing your opinions, objections, and questions is an important part of being a valuable proposal professional. However, like a bartender, proposal professionals often get stuck as listeners rather than as strategists.  In this presentation, attendees will identify a "proposal bar" crowd and build social intelligence to move from behind the counter. Presenters will discuss the acts of listening to others' woes and dealing with difficult personalities to orchestrating the crowd and developing a signature "drink" – a unique proposal voice. The presentation focuses on working with a diverse proposal crowd, getting heard, and helping them see beyond their "beer goggles."

Dr. Stephen Galati, CP APMP, leads the Strategic Proposals for TRC Companies. He has more than 20 years of proposal management, technical and grant writing, marketing communications, training, and electrical engineering experience. He is the author of Geographic Information Systems Demystified, and has numerous publications to his credit concerning environmental consulting, proposal writing, grant management, leadership, and public/private funding.

Anne Kadlec, CF APMP, is a senior proposal professional with over 15 years of experience in the A/E/C industry.
