Session Description

With changes in communication methods, including email and the use of social media, there is evidence that technology can enhance and decrease literacy. Writers and Evaluators increasingly use communication methods which require more focus on the precision of responses to maximise scoring in the minimum word count.

We will use the session to promote discussion amongst mixed demographic groups to demonstrate that bid submissions in the future must consider the generation, culture and technology use of the buyer, in addition to the requirements of the purchasing organisation. We will offer academic and industry evidence in relation to literacy changes brought about by the use of social media and include some thought provoking views on whether – as writers and proposal professionals – we should concentrate on producing well written narratives or adjust our style to ensure we keep pace with changing trends. We will advise how savvy recruits can enhance your team.

Top Takeaways

Attendees will be inspired to consider whether their submission is being evaluated by a person interested in the flow of language or more concerned with the speed and precision of finding the evidence to establish the bidder as the best placed to deliver their needs. Attendees will see evidence that the use of social media is affecting literacy and communication but not altogether in a negative way.
