Writing Business Bids & Proposals for Dummies cover imageWashington, D.C., September 13, 2016 – The Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP®), the bid and proposal industry's professional membership association, partnered with Wiley publications to produce the world's first step-by-step book to teach everyone how to win more business through better proposal writing.  The book is on sale now at for less than $20 (including shipping to U.S. destinations and APMP member discount).

"Writing Business Bids & Proposals for Dummies" is a partnership between APMP and Wiley Publications, the publishers of the popular "for dummies" book series.  The 404-page book is the ultimate reference guide or refresher for proposal writers to guide them step-by-step on how to think, organize their thoughts, write, edit, and deliver a proposal that gives them the best chance of winning using APMP's best practices.

The book is broken down into six parts including: Understanding Proposal Development, Focusing on Your Customer, Planning Your Approach, Creating Your Proposal, Taking Your Proposal to the Next Level, and the highly informative and philosophical Part of Tens.  Readers will get 16 chapters of information, jam-packed with hundreds of tips, warnings, and proposal reminders.

In addition, those who purchase the printed version of "Writing Business Bids & Proposals for Dummies" can instantly connect to a deep online library of additional tools and templates to assist on their next proposal.

"The goal of the book is to help everyone, no matter their skill level, plan and use a repeatable proposal process to win new work," said Rick Harris, Executive Director of APMP.  "Our members and millions of people throughout the world write proposals to win and this book helps everyone from the one-person proposal writer to the person leading a proposal team to better think, organize, and deliver a proposal that leads to new revenue."

Written by two APMP Fellows, Neil Cobb and Charlie Divine, "Writing Business Bids & Proposals for Dummies" will become the mass-marketed definitive resource for anyone who is tasked with putting together a proposal. Both Cobb and Divine have a combined 50+ years of proposal writing and management experience and have been on the front lines of proposal writing globally.

The book is a product of APMP's new B2B/B2C marketing committee designed to expand APMP's reach to people who write proposals every day but might not know they are proposal writers. This can include marketing, business development, sales, and support professionals who are tasked with driving revenue into their organizations.

I've been managing proposals for 30+ years and ordered this book just to see how APMP would treat the topic in the vein of < whatever> for Dummies style. I am very impressed with the content - it's chock full of 'actionable content' that is factual and to the point. A very useful guide for the beginner as well as the advanced proposal specialist to use and reference. As Sandra concludes: Nicely done!

I have been managing, preparing, and directing proposals and processes for 20+ years. I ordered this book because I felt it would help remind me of areas in the process or writing that I may have unintentionally compromised, omitted or needed to tweak. Let's face it, there is a danger of getting complacent, or altogether skipping a critical step in the midst of a fire drill. The industry is always improving; technology can quietly pass by while we have our heads down drudging through our responsibilities, completely unaware that there is likely a better way! Thank you for a well thought out, simple reference tool. Nicely done!
