APMP Launches Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund for Houston Area Members

Washington, D.C., September 5, 2017  The Association of Proposal Management Professionals® (APMP®) Executive Committee unanimously voted today to establish a relief fund to assist APMP members in the Houston area impacted by Hurricane Harvey.  APMP International, the association of record for more than 7,800 bid, proposal, capture and business development professionals globally, is partnering with its Lone Star Chapter for this effort.

APMP anticipates there are about 100 of its members from Houston and surrounding areas that have been impacted by the storm that ravaged the Texas city last week.  Damage left by Hurricane Harvey is expected to eclipse $180 million and has displaced more than 1 million people, while seriously damaging 200,000+ homes.

Partnering with APMP’s Lone Star Chapter, APMP will contribute $10,000 in relief aid so that members will know their association hasn’t forgotten about them.  Every member from the Houston area will receive a gift certificate of $100 for either food, or to help repair their property.  Members who are eligible to receive the relief will be approved by the Lone Star Chapter. In addition, APMP will cover 2018 individual membership fees for its members in the Houston area.

“Houston area APMP members, many of whom are our colleagues and friends, are just moving back into their homes and have immediate need for food and home repair.  We want to help with an initial gift and hope we can provide even more help in the coming weeks,” said Rick Harris, Executive Director of APMP.

To do that, Kristin Dufrene, Chair of APMP, said the association will start a GoFundMe campaign ( to raise additional funds that will go directly to Houston area members. “APMP is contributing the first $10,000 and we hope to contribute more through the GoFundMe Campaign,” said Dufrene.  “One hundred percent of all donations will go directly to the food and home repair of Houston area members.”

Details on how to qualify for the APMP Hurricane Harvey Relief will be forthcoming and financial disbursement will start no later than Tuesday September 12, 2017.  APMP encourages all of its members to give whatever they can to the APMP Hurricane Relief Fund at
