Washington, D.C., October 5, 2017 The Association of Proposal Management Professionals® (APMP®) announced this morning that its nearly two-week fundraising campaign to benefit APMP members in the Houston, TX area impacted by Hurricane Harvey has concluded.  The association, its members and sponsors stepped up in a significant way to help members, colleagues and friends in need.

APMP raised a total of $17,697 for its Houston area members from a variety of sources.  APMP International contributed $10,000 while 59 members, including the Nor’easters and South Africa chapters contributed a total of $7,697 through APMP’s GoFundMe campaign.  APMP Platinum Sponsors Qvidian and Shipley Associates gave $1,000 and $500 respectively.

APMP International, the chief industry resource for more than 7,800 bid, proposal, capture and business development professionals globally partnered with its Lone Star Chapter for this effort.

“We saw the very best from our membership during this important Hurricane Harvey Relief effort,” said Rick Harris, Executive Director.  “We have a compassionate membership and saw dozens of people who contributed thousands of dollars to help out folks in their professional community. This is one of the many reasons that APMP is a tremendous organization.”

Kristin Dufrene, APMP’s Chair and Vice President, Proposal Development of Vencore, said “The Lone Star Chapter’s Chair, Sonya Wooley told us they needed money for home repair and food and that’s what we are sending them.  Helping our friends and colleagues in a time of great need is a fulfilling part of belonging to an association,” said Dufrene.

The Lone Star Chapter also reached out to all their potentially affected members and discovered that two of their members received significant flooding damage to their homes. In addition to the support provided by APMP, the Lone Star Chapter is sending the two families an additional $500 gift card to the store of their choice. The Lone Star Chapter is also hosting both of their next two meetings in Houston (October and December) at no charge to members.

APMP will be sending e-gift certificates for food to about 85 of its members from Houston and surrounding areas that have been impacted by the storm that ravaged the Texas city.  It is estimated that each member will receive about $200 in aid.  Damage left by Hurricane Harvey is expected to eclipse $170 million and has displaced more than 1 million people, while seriously damaging 200,000+ homes, according to the governor’s office in Texas.

One hundred percent of all donations raised will go directly to food for APMP’s Houston area members.  APMP will work with Lone Star Chapter Board members to begin distributing the funds within days.
