 APMP’s Board of Directors Approved Funding to Create a New APMP Body of Knowledge
The Online Tool Will Serve as the Best Practices Resource for the Industry

Washington, DC, October 21, 2013 — The APMP® Board of Directors has approved funds to create a new APMP Body of Knowledge (BoK), which will serve as the industry’s primary resource of best practices for proposal, bid, capture, business development and graphics industry professionals. In addition, the new APMP BoK will be the primary study reference for APMP’s Foundation Level Certification Exam.

Funding for the project was approved at the September 2013 APMP Board of Directors meeting. The project will officially start in January 2014, with an expected completion date in fall 2014. APMP will identify sections and topics, hire industry authors to write related best practices and hire a managing editor to bring the entire project together. APMP members will receive a Call for Authors notification and an RFP in December 2013 for those interested in helping APMP complete the project.

"This new APMP BoK will be a huge member benefit and is a big step forward for this association," said Rick Harris, Executive Director of APMP. "This means every member will soon have access to the association’s endorsed best practices, available electronically and free of charge, whether they take the Foundation Level Certification exam or not,” he said. 

Mr. Harris added that the new APMP BoK will be vendor neutral and there is likely to be a print version available to members for a nominal charge, for those who prefer to study by book.

The overarching goal is for the new APMP BoK content to be consistent with questions in the APMP Foundation Level Certification exam and the definitions in the new APMP Glossary of Terms. All descriptions, questions and definitions will uniformly promote industry best practices and association-endorsed definitions.

APMP’s current document repository will remain open to all members and will be given a new name, to distinguish it from the new APMP BoK. The APMP Board is also developing a strategic plan to address the implementation of procedures to maintain that future materials added to the BoK are updated and maintained as current, as well as delivered in APMP-branded templates.
