New APMP Body of Knowledge is Now Live
Highly-anticipated Debut Offers Industry’s New Primary Resource for Best Practices

Washington, DC, January 12, 2015 – Today the Association of Proposal Management Professionals® (APMP®) launched a new APMP Body of Knowledge (BOK) on the association’s newly designed, marking the culmination of an entire year and approximately 4,200 hours of surveying, writing, editing and testing a new Wiki-style site that serves as the proposal, capture and business development industry’s primary resource for best practices.

The long-awaited new APMP BOK is the single reference point endorsed by APMP in the association’s 25-year history and is accessible to APMP’s global membership, 24/7. More than 80 industry writers and editors worked together to create the most robust reference resource, drawing from 70 industry reference materials. A blue ribbon panel then reviewed all of the APMP BOK content and Wiki functionality.

"The new APMP BOK is, quite simply, the most comprehensive and diverse representation of our industry’s best practices, as written by proposal professionals throughout the world,” said Rick Harris, APMP’s Executive Director. "The APMP BOK is the collective voice of the industry and an excellent reference tool, whether you are just starting your career or are a seasoned professional,” he said.

The APMP Board of Directors approved the development of a resource specifically designed to:

  • Be easily accessible to all APMP members in good standing, regardless of geographic boundaries.
  • Include a dynamic APMP Glossary of Proposal Industry Terms that can be updated inside the electronic publication and provide a "pop-up” map to industry and geographic equivalent terms.
  • Be a true, independent best-practice guide, based on multiple research references.
  • Welcome member comments, leading to quarterly updates and continuous improvements.

APMP invested heavily in the BOK, seeing the value this resource for the APMP membership. APMP members in good-standing will be able to easily research data, tools and useful templates related to business development, customer understanding, deliverables, team leadership, process management, and staff training. Each chapter in the APMP BOK represents the most important things business development professionals should know, with deep explanations on how to apply best practices in different scenarios and environments. Contributions also include how to avoid mistakes, how best practices apply in different environments, terms related to the topics, and additional resources. The APMP BOK will continually be maintained and updated by APMP, keeping content current, useful and relevant for business development and proposal professionals.
