Rick Harris Named APMP's New Executive Director

APMP announced today that Rick Harris has joined its staff as its new Executive Director effective immediately. A 23-year trade association veteran, Mr. Harris will be responsible for the daily management, operations, staff and growth of APMP.

He replaces David Winton, who recently stepped down as Executive Director, but will remain as the group’s interim Chief Financial Officer.

"As the new face of APMP, Rick Harris will help lead, plan, sell, and implement APMP’s mission on a worldwide basis,” said Betsy Blakney, APMP’s CEO. "His proven skills in assessing an organization’s strengths, building coalitions and generating revenue will play an important role in strengthen existing programs while growing others.”

Mr. Harris’s responsibilities also include interfacing with APMP chapters globally, planning APMP’s Annual Conference, expanding APMP membership and marketing efforts, and becoming the face of and an advocate for the association’s more than 4,000 members.

Most recently, Mr. Harris served as the Executive Director of the Tech Council of Maryland’s MdTech Division and the Tech Council of Maryland Foundation. He is well known in the association community for his ability to creatively market and promote industries, generate non-dues revenue and launch, sustain and grow events. Mr. Harris has held senior management roles with both domestic and foreign economic development offices. He has been a part of international business development teams for several associations and has developed new business opportunities globally for most of his career.

APMP’s mission is to advance the arts, sciences, and technology of new business acquisition and to promote the professionalism of those engaged in those pursuits.
