Lost on the Asteroid: Life-critical Self-assessment for Team Building

Friday, May 27, 2016 | 2:20 PM - 3:20 PM | Commonwealth

Gerald Jones
Mike Parkinson
Colleen Jolly
Are you a leader, a follower, a kibitzer, a nudge or an indifferent observer in a group? What specific behavior could you adopt that would consistently improve your contributions and the effectiveness of any group you join? In this engaging, interactive game, participants form small groups to solve a hypothetical life-and-death situation. Challenges involve both technical assessment of the problem and negotiation of the group's response. At the conclusion, each player will hold a private, self-generated numeric score, which tells him/her what actions he/she took and how that behavior contributed to the ultimate survival or death of the team.

Gerald Everett Jones has managed major proposal and business analysis projects in government, healthcare and commercial sectors. He is the author of more than 25 business and technical books, including How to Lie with Charts and PMP Certification for Dummies. He has an extensive background in IT systems development. A top-rated APMP presenter, he has also led versions of this game for an operational excellence group in Big Pharma and for The Walt Disney Company.

Mike Parkinson, CPP APMP Fellow, and Colleen Jolly, CPP APMP Fellow, are internationally recognized visual communication and proposal experts, multi-published authors and professional speakers. Both are partners at 24 Hour Company, a premier proposal creative services firm. Mike and Colleen have spearheaded multi-billion-dollar projects and helped their clients win billions of dollars.
