Bio

Ruth is a Senior Sales Operations Manager at Optum Serve. She manages executive reporting of growth activities, oversees growth pipeline governance for three business units, administers the engagement of external proposals and other growth consultants, and contributes technology solutions in support of sales operations, governance, and proposal management functions.

Prior to joining Optum Serve, Ruth was a Senior Proposal Developer for Companion Data Services, LLC (CDS) for 18 years. In that capacity, she managed bids ranging from $1.5M to $1.5B, delivering winning proposals to U.S. Government agencies and state and local governments. Ruth was instrumental in introducing APMP best practices and certifications to CDS and its parent organization, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.

Ruth has previously served on the APMP Board of Directors, as a chapter officer for the Florida Sunshine Chapter, served as a Bid & Proposal Con volunteer, contributed to several APMP committees, and continues to serve as a jurist for APMP's 40 under 40 recognition program.

Ruth is a world traveler, amateur photographer, and writer of children's fiction.

What does being an APMP Fellow mean to you?

Being an APMP Fellow is so much more than a recognition; it is a calling to continue to contribute to the profession that has provided us with such a rich, generous, and rewarding community of professionals.

What's your best memory from attending an APMP event?

There are so many, but a common thread is meeting and networking with other bid and proposal professionals who understand who we are, what we do, and that speak our language.

What advice do you have for a proposal professional entering our field?

Take advantage of APMP's opportunities to engage, network, learn, become accredited, mentor, serve and lead.

 

APMP's techniques on proposal writing are meticulously engineered with real-life examples, and the extensive information available in their Body of Knowledge is a goldmine for bid & proposal professionals.
