Bio

David is an experienced change manager and project professional. After 40 year career in the IT and telecommunications industries, his professional interests are how to maximize value and improve project delivery performance through smarter contracting and the use of data analytics. He is a member of the APM Contracts and Procurement Specific Interest Group and the Project Data Analytics community.

What does being an APMP Fellow mean to you?

Recognition of the value of our profession and the contribution we make. As a Fellow, I am privileged to be part of a unique community. I use that to encourage and foster connections and dialogue with other professional organizations and those seeking to move the dial on performance.

What's your best memory from attending an APMP event?

The people you meet there. A presentation on how the London 2012 Olympics bid was won: how the team engaged with stakeholders and offered a vision that went beyond compliance and value issues and connected emotionally with decision-makers.

What advice do you have for a proposal professional entering our field?

Seek out those who look for truth. Shun those who have found it.

With this micro-certification and digital badge, I signal to my bid team and stakeholders that I am familiar with this topic. They can use me as their contact and "sparring partner," independent of RFPs.

I have learned a great deal from the webinars and conferences I attended on diverse topics from career progression in Proposal Management, trends (such as automation) in PreSales to achieving work-life balance, and handling burn-outs – all real-life experiences.
